Rick wrote a post that made me stop scrolling.

Then another.

It made me think:

Do I not know...

Do we not know...

Do you not know that you are living in a HISTORIC change?

“Grandad,” the boy said, “what was it like when AI first started taking over?”

The old man looks out the window. “Fast. Faster than anyone thought”.

“What did you do?” the boy asked.

“Nothing special. I kept doing the same things. I was earning OK money. Same fear.”

“Fear?”

“Fear of losing my job, fear of AI taking my job and fear I wouldn’t realise my potential. 

There was this one end of year where I was tracking to hit 77%.

That was good compared to some of my peers, so I cruised on. 

Deep in my belly I hated mediocrity but told myself that I was doing fine.”

The boy replied with… “And?”

“I thought I had time!” the man responded.

“And then?”

“Then the world shifted. AI took 75% of the work. 

The rest was taken by the top 6% Rainmakers. They did very well out of it!”

The boy sensed the regret in his Grandad’s voice.

The old man continued: “I ended up with a job as an Emotion Feeder. 

I had a camera looking at my face all day, getting perfect data on my expressions.

It had to be on 8 hours a day, they said it was to teach the AI ‘empathy’ and micro-expressions

The longer I did it, the less I felt.”...

If you want to become indispensable, do it before you have no choice.

My intention is not to spread fear and worry.

I am hoping this reads like a cold shower.

It definitely won't WARM you up but it might WAKE you up!
