Boiled frog or cold shower?

A friend of mine. Great dude. Helps others. High performer. Spends time getting geeky with the product. I always admired that. He hit 214% last year. In the same year he moved cities. Got engaged. Things were good.

When we caught up last week, he told me this, he smiled, then paused.
“It’s been a slow start” he said.

Q1? Trump imploded it. Q2? Damn. Hard even if quota hadn't doubled.
Boss full of hot air and very generous with it. 1:1 Talk time 80% manager.
Busy, not learning and can't see a way out other than adjust the personal goal.

Adjust the personal goal? First kid on the way?
Wants to buy the house back home. Does she want to go back to work?

And really, he’s not lazy. Not clueless.
He’s sharp. Knows what he can do. Hard working.
Shows up. Sets the example. Even mentors the team.

But now he’s here. 2025. At the moment that decides his next five years.

He said, “I probably need to make a change.”

Probably? Change?

So what gives?
  • The job?
  • The boss?
  • The goal?
  • Himself?

Boiled frog or cold shower?
