One morning, last June, in a coffee shop, I met Moti.
She wore a crisp beige suit. Her eldest son, 35, works in cybersecurity in Canada.
Moved from Nigeria to London at 21, then lived in LA and then moved back to London.
Great smile and very smiley. Moti trains staff in care homes.
She told me the skills aren’t hard. The hard part is teaching people to care.
I asked about how you do that.
“If you treat someone like your mum or sister,” she said, “you’ll always do your best.”
She told me about a man, a father of three, who fell down the stairs and broke his neck.
“One day it could be any of us,” she said. “When people realise that, everything changes.”
I can’t stop thinking about it. She gets bought in to tell stories like this to connect with people.
You're a good salesperson that wants to be great, do you care enough?
Would you behave differently if the prospect was your own brother?
Would you be more you, more valuable and more fun?
Would you have introduced them to someone else?
Will you?
