Remember Why You Sell

I had a conversation with my dad about business building:

“Don’t you think most Founders today are trying to build a business to sell and make millions?”

I then got a cup of black coffee and started a conversation with Ken, a 64 year old retired MET Policeman:

"The problem now is that everyone joins the police for the pension rather than for the love of it."

What about our profession of Sales? Who's in it for the pay check? Who's in it for something more?

Then I had a conversation same afternoon with the Rep who sold the biggest deal at Hubspot and he shared:

"What did you do in your life to make a difference in the world?" On his phone notes above it was "Practice this daily"...

He learned it from his father, who taught him three rules: love what you do, serve others, and make yourself valuable. He says, but more importantly shown that getting those right means life-changing money follows.

So if you're in sales and you find yourself:
  • Trying to get that sale knowing it's not the best path forward for the customer
  • Thinking of your job as a get rich quick scheme rather than a noble pursuit
  • Disorientated because you didn't grow up with an example of what could be

Maybe it’s time to pause. Examine yourself. Reflect. Reorient.

Rick has spent decades helping people change their lives. He’s built a list of 100 questions to help you discover your solid foundation as a Sales Rep. Only then can you begin the path to becoming a Sales Professional.

And once you reach that, perhaps the teacher may appear to help you become a Rainmaker?
