My Hubspot software makes it really easy for me to spam people and I don't like it.
Do you subscribe to this blog by email? Thank you. If you were to click on "Update your email preferences" at the bottom of the email that led you to this article, you'd see this page.
We don't send many "Marketing Information" emails. Over 90% of our emails are blog articles with stories, lessons, and other content that's helpful rather than tricky or salesy. Thank God! I just looked at the past year. Our blog notifications get opened by at least 50% more recipients and get at least 10 times the number of clicks.
So, here's what I think. The people that have subscribed to marketing information don't want to engage or learn anything. They might be looking for an easy solution. They may not know that they subscribed.
The people that subscribed to my blog are more likely to be looking to understand the world, how it works and what causes buyers to do what they do. Those are the only people that I care about.
So, effective immediately I'll no longer be sending "Marketing Information". Ever. If it's not a lesson, story or otherwise useful to you, we don't need it. So, if you haven't already, go check your email preferences and make sure they're set the way you want them to be.
One last thing, my 2015 work ends on 12/18. There's a lot happening between now and then that I'll write about at RickRoberge.com, UnboundGrowth.com and LinkedIn.com. Subscribe, follow, enjoy and, if you are so moved, suggest that your friends do the same.
